About the Grant
Funding is available from IFP via a regrant from New York State Council on the Arts’ Electronic Media and Film Program to support the distribution of recently completed work by independent media artists residing in New York State. Grants are given for audio/radio, film, and video productions, computer based work, and installations incorporating these media. Artists may request funding support up to a maximum amount of $10,000, with the typical grant amount awarded generally lower.
The funds can be used for most elements relating to distribution needs such as the production of dubbing masters, dubs, and release prints, or for the creation of other formats used for distribution purposes such as DVDs or CD-roms. The grants can also be used for expenses related to marketing and promotion and for other needs which further the opportunity for the project to reach a wider audience, such as the preparation of subtitles or closed captioning, or the payment of festival or screening fees. In addition to self-distribution efforts, strategies to supplement an existing distribution agreement with a commercial or non-profit distributor may also be supported.
NOTE: this grant is for works that have been fully completed. The grants may not be used for production or post-production costs or production deficits.
